Associate Director, Bioanalysis Lab Lead (CPSS Cell Therapy)

Join our dynamic team at AstraZeneca as an Associate Director in Clinical Pharmacology and Safety Sciences (CPSS) Cell Therapy team where you will lead the design and implementation of robust bioanalytical strategies to support clinical assay endpoints. Your expertise will be crucial in advancing our cell therapy pipeline and transforming the lives of patients.
Responsibilities:
Program Management: Oversee comprehensive project management activities to support CPSS Cell Therapy, ensuring proper and timely execution of all aspects of the clinical life cycle across AZ cell therapy product portfolio. Collaborate with Bioanalytical leads and team members to maintain focus on strategic goals and deliverables.
People Management: Lead and mentor a large team of scientists, promoting an environment of collaboration and professional development. Ensure team agreement on program and organizational goals. Cultivate a culture of excellence and innovation.
Assay Development and Validation: Support the development, qualification, and validation of cell therapy-related bioassays, using external capabilities. Advise team of scientists with assay development and troubleshooting.
Timeline Management: Set and manage timelines for clinical sample processing and data verification in collaboration with Bioanalytical leads, ensuring adherence to project schedules and quality standards.
Communication: Provide comprehensive updates and strategic insights to important partners and team members.
Essential Experience:
PhD in immunology, cellular and tumor biology, or related field with 7+ years of industry experience or an equivalent level of experience.
Experience in leading a large team of “wet lab” scientists with an emphasis on aligning with strategic goals and achieving key deliverables.
Demonstrated expertise in managing clinical biospecimen analysis to support clinical trials.
Knowledge of regulated bioanalysis across modalities, including PK/CK, PD, and immunogenicity assessments. Understanding of GCLP guidelines.
Strong collaboration skills and an understanding of cell therapy biology and regulatory expectations.
Exceptional communication skills for diverse audiences and ability to prioritize projects in a fast-paced environment.
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $$134,578.40 - $201,867.60. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles).
